Vintage Sterling Silver Turquoise Coral Antler Pendant by D Robert Smith

Description from the jeweler, D. Robert Smith:

Elk hunting amulet.

I originally made this in Chama, New Mexico early 2000’s, for a Texas Hunter, and years later a client found it at an auction and got it back to me.

The elk cast was designed by a Hopi gentleman in Holbrook, Arizona in the 1980’s, and I acquired the original molds in 1991.
It is sterling silver with fine sterling silver hand-cut bezels surrounding the stones and arrowhead.
The arrowhead was collected from a friend's property some years prior, and incorporated iinto the pendant, along with Italian natural deep red coral and Sleeping Beauty turquoise. All the stones were cut in my studio.
The antler is from an elk harvested from the Jicarrilla Apache holdings outside Chama, NM.
It is inlaid with turquoise, coral and green snail shell and hand incised in the motif.
Except for the elk tine and elk cast, all were hand fabricated.

This piece measures approximately 9 1/2" x 3". It is hallmarked on the bale. 

D. Rober Smith is a well-known jeweler who has lived and worked on the Southwest for decades.  He now resides in Durango, CO.
